MHS' Schrag makes AVCTL 1st team

Outfielder Brooke Schrag was the lone McPherson High representative on the AVCTL Division III softball first team as selections have been announced.

Winfield’s Kelsey Phillips was named league MVP as the Vikings took first place by a game over Augusta. However, the Orioles’ Shane Steinkamp was named Coach of the Year.

MHS shortstop Chelsey Kerr and outfielder Bailea Crist were named to the second team, and Crist also received second-team utility player.

Second baseman Gracy Feil and catcher Sheridan Scott were honorable mention for the Bullpups.

Here is the first team:

Catcher — Kerry Murphy, Winfield

1st Base — Taylor Byerley, Winfield

2nd Base — Tysha Henning, Winfield

Shortstop — Kendra Baldridge, Rose Hill

3rd Base — Destiny Bowlin, El Dorado

Outfield — Brooke Schrag, McPherson; Carley Phillips, Augusta; Taylor Hinnenkamp, Augusta; Bailey Phillips, Winfield

Utility — Mikala Ruff, El Dorado

Designated Player — Katie Payne, Augusta

Pitchers — Kelsey Phillips, Winfield; Alison Macari, Augusta; Christine Dock, Rose Hill
