The success of McPherson High athletics can be traced in great part to the SPS Program that was initiated just over 10 years ago.
The Speed, Power & Strength program is open to all student-athletes in the McPherson School District in grades 7-12.
Goals of the program are to improve speed, power and strength and reduce injury risk of all types of athletes.
High school students have the opportunity to continue their training throughout the school year by enrolling in one of the SPS courses that are now offered through the PE department.
All training sessions will take place at McPherson High School using the weight room, wrestling room, gyms and outdoor facilities. The sessions for beginners in grades 7-9 will emphasize developing the flexibility, balance and coordination needed to master free weight lifting.
