The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) published preliminary data from their holiday activity over this past Memorial Weekend.

Only one fatal accident was reported, which was alcohol-related. The KHP also made 25 DUI arrests, about a thousand speed citations and an additional 700 speed warnings.

The “Click It Or Ticket” campaign also coincided with the Memorial Weekend Holiday. It’s interesting to note that of the 236 seatbelt citations the KHP logged over the weekend, just six of them involved teenagers, and the rest were for adults.

KHP personnel assisted 1,079 motorists over the holiday reporting period.

The reporting period for the holiday weekend ran from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2016.

During that timeframe, the Patrol worked one fatal crash, which was alcohol-related.
