At its June 6 meeting, the McPherson School Board appointed Chris Allen as principal of Eisenhower Elementary School (EES), effective July 18. Allen is currently the principal of McPherson Middle School (MMS).

An interview team from EES conducted interviews on Thursday, June 2. They interviewed five finalists from a strong pool of 20 candidates.

"It is exciting to have the opportunity to work with a staff that has proven to be great,” said Allen. “I am looking forward to continue doing what's best for all kids and to model a culture that promotes learning. I cannot wait to start working with the students and staff at Eisenhower Elementary School."

Allen is a graduate of Fort Hays State University and earned a degree in Secondary Education and Music. Following his undergrad, Allen obtained his Masters in School Leadership from Fort Hays State in 2013.

Allen also has a wide range of educational experience, including eight years as a math teacher and coach at McPherson High School. He began his career as a teacher in the Hutchinson school district.

This school year Allen has served as the MMS Assistant Principal/AD as well as the interim principal after the departure of Mrs. Kelley Brake.

The current EES principal, Craig Marshall, has accepted a superintendent job in Burlington, Kansas, after serving for ten years as principal at Eisenhower.
