The Pat Noyes Scholarship Fund was the big winner this past Saturday when the annual “Pat Noyes Golf Tournament and Experience” was held at Turkey Creek.
More than 60 players teed it up and a whopping id="mce_marker"5,000 was raised from the tournament and the auction that was held at the Best Western Holiday Manor.
Pat Noyes was a former McPherson College basketball player under Roger Trimmell who later went on to become the Director of Basketball Operations at Oklahoma State. He was among those who tragically died in the plane crash back in 2001 that claimed 10 lives.
The Championship Flight winner was the team of Bill Kelley, Steve Bangert, Gary Chisam and Tom Swaney with a 58. Finishing second was Team Peoples Bank, which included Stan Smith, Dennis Houghton, Ziya Gunay and Gordon Reimer (60).
The 1st Flight winner was Team Midway Super Center, which was Kelly Hoover, Barry Carr, Craig Drueker and Brent Waltner (63). Finishing second was Team Home State Bank, which was Jonathan Rothrock, Alex Tyler, Brian Bina and Mike Cullinane (64).
Each year, the Pat Noyes Scholarship is presented to a Bulldog men’s senior basketball player who exemplifies Pat’s values. Kyle Lakin was this year’s winner.
Pat’s brother, Dan, also played basketball and graduated from McPherson College.
