PITTSBURG — McPherson’s Jacob Lackey parred his first 13 holes Wednesday in the second round of the Kansas Amateur Golf Tournament at Crestwood Country Club.
He went on to finish with a 2-over-par 74, which came on the heels of his opening-round 76 on Tuesday. He should be in good shape to make the cut for Thursday’s final round.
Lackey was one of the first players to finish today and now awaits where he’ll be in the standings at the end of the day.
Lackey started on the back nine, securing nine straight pars for a 36. He then parred his first four holes on his second nine before hitting a rough patch with three straight bogeys. However, he birdied his 17th hole and parred his final hole for a 38 on the front.
Many of the golfers who have finished have posted lights-out scores, including a 69 by Harrison Gearhart of Wichita. First-day leader Grant Herrenbruck of Salina was another early starter and tied Lackey with a 74 and 144 total.
The current low score at the time of this posting is Cole Gritton on Manhattan, who has had rounds of 71-70-141.
