McPherson’s summer Concert for a Cause series has been a great success so far. Every Thursday a different band performs at Hopps Sno Shack near downtown McPherson and all proceeds go to a local charity.

One of the sponsors of the summer event is the McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau, whose Director Joni Regnier reflected on the numbers for the June 2 performance.

“The first week I would say probably 100 to 150,” Regnier estimated. “And last week I think they had at least that many if not more. They even raised more money last week than they did the week prior.”

Money during the event is raised strictly through freewill donations and concession sales.

“There’s popcorn, and you just go donate,” Regnier explained. “There’s sno cones, and all the money from the sno cones goes to the charity.

“Just bring your lawnchair,” Regnier continued. “The music has been fantastic and each week it’s getting bigger and bigger, so come on out Thursday night.”

All concerts begin 7:00 Thursday evening at Hopp’s Sno Shack at 214 E. Euclid in McPherson and are free for the public to attend.

This week’s concert features Robin Macy, Kentucky White & Darren Wilcox and all proceeds will go to Girl Scouts of McPherson County.
