Jr. Legion drops pair to Salina

SALINA — McPherson’s Junior American Legion baseball team returned to the diamond on Wednesday, losing a pair of road games to the Salina Mustangs.

In Game 1, Post 24 started well by leading 2-1 going into the fourth when the Mustangs tied it, then they went ahead with two runs in the fifth. Four runs in the sixth put the exclamation point on the Mustangs’ 8-3 win.

Trey Hanken was 2 for 3 with two RBIs to lead McPherson.

The Mustangs completed the sweep with a 14-4 victory. It was all tied going into the bottom of the fifth when the Mustangs scored 10 times to end the game by the run rule.

Post 24 was held to four hits, the loudest a double by Wyatt Seidl. 

Now 3-13, Post 24 next plays on Tuesday at Buhler.
