A Hillsboro teenager was injured Wednesday in a car accident on Hwy 56 near Canton.

Mary Wasinger, age 19, was driving a Ford Focus eastbound on Hwy 56, about two miles east of Canton, when she rear-ended a Dodge Dakota driven by Matthew Rauch of Canton, age 25, who was slowing down to turn on 29thAve. The collision caused the pickup to roll, but neither Rauch nor his passenger suffered any injuries.

Wasinger was taken to the Hillsboro Community Hospital for possible injury and has since been released. Her passenger, a five-month old baby girl, was properly restrained in a child seat and was not injured.

The accident occurred shortly before 6:00 Wednesday evening. All involved were wearing seatbelts, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
