HUTCHINSON — Jacob Lackey would have been excused if he experienced a letdown, but he didn’t.
Coming off his emotional, sky-high victory over the weekend in the McPherson City Golf Tournament where he won the title with a last-hole eagle, Lackey competed Thursday in the KJGA North Central Team event.
The McPherson High senior wound up in a tie for second place with an even-par 71 at Carey Park, two shots behind Hutchinson Juco signee Cole Gritton of Manhattan.
This was the last of the qualifying series and Lackey tied for second place for the section with Jack Lanham of Hutchinson, another Hutch Juco signee.
Gritton was the champion.
Lackey has qualified to play in the Section Championship, which is July 25-27 in Emporia. The top 30 junior qualifiers take part.
