The McPherson Museum is hosting a Bridal Fair and Show this Saturday from 9 to 2:00. Over 130 years of bridal clothing will be on display along with several vendors showcasing local resources for planning that special day.
“We are very excited about how many vendors participated with us,” said Anna Ruxlow, Director of the McPherson Museum and organizer of the event. “We do have 28 local vendors, two or three that are outside of McPherson County, but most all of the other ones are from within McPherson County.”
The vendors at the Bridal Fair will showcase everything that a bride and groom need right here in the local area, from jewelry to travel agencies.
“We have several different food vendors with either wedding cakes or what you would use for a reception or a rehearsal dinner,” said Ruxlow. “We also have massage therapists, hair salons, all within 30 miles. It’s right here in our own community.”
For the Bridal Show portion of the event, the Museum has arranged with Bandy Sound of McPherson to provide professional sound and lighting services. It will begin at 11:00 and will feature over a dozen young women from McPherson area high school and colleges who will model modern bridal gowns from Brooklyn and Co and even a few of the vintage bridal gowns from the exhibit itself.
“The fact that we will have a couple of vintage dresses in it is something that most bridal shows do not have,” Ruxlow said.
“And there’s lots of prized that people can win, too,” she continued. “There’s grand prizes, and then there are individual prizes from the different vendors.”
The Bridal Fair and Show is from 9 to 2 this Saturday, July 9, at the McPherson Museum located at 1111 E. Kansas Ave. Admission is just $5 a person. For more information, contact Anna Ruxlow at 620-241-8464.
