WICHITA —  Southwestern College’s Scott Nuss has been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference's Sports Information Director of the Year, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Nuss will be formally recognized at the Sport Management Conference on Aug. 2 at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth. This is his third overall and second consecutive Sports Information of the Year award, the first coming in 2012-13.

The Sports Information Director of the Year award is based on a vote of Sports Information Directors working at each KCAC member institution.

Nuss started at Southwestern College in 2012, becoming the first full-time Sports Information Director in the college's history. His responsibilities cover marketing, publications, statistics and promotion of the athletic department. He spent nine months as the Co-Interim Athletic Director before the hiring of Matt Shelton and was then promoted to Assistant Athletic Director.

"Being a sports information director is a very thankless job at times," Shelton said. "Scott is professional in all he does and has been a tremendous asset to Southwestern College and our athletic department. During this past couple months, as I've come on board as athletic director, Scott has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director, as well, rewarding him for his dedication and outstanding work. The student-athletes, parents and supporters of Builder Nation have been well informed and treated to countless ways to stay up with the outcomes of all our teams."
