HUTCHINSON — It was another 1-1 day for the McPherson Senior American Legion baseball team in the Hutchinson Wood Bat Tournament on Saturday.

McPherson also was 1-1 on Friday as it has split its four games.

Against the Kansas City Monarchs, a six-run first inning put Post 24 in a hole it could never recover from in a 10-4 loss.

Dylan Werries and Kolby Reed had two hits apiece for McPherson. Werries and Jeff Reed came up with doubles.

It was Post 24 that came out swinging early in the next game, scoring four runs in the first and two in the second to key an 8-2 victory over Arkansas City.

Caleb Schmidt pitched five innings of one-run baseball, allowing only three hits and fanning five.

Jeff Reed drove in four runs to pace the McPherson offense. Jacob Loecker scored three runs.

Post 24 is now 18-5 on the season.
