Loads of honors for Wildcats

If the All-Big 12 preseason football selections are an indication, it should be quite a year for Kansas State.

The Wildcats on Wednesday placed five players on the All-Big 12 team, including four on the defensive side.

Ends Will Geary and Jordan Willis made the elite team, along with teammatse Elijah Lee at linebacker and Dante Barrett in the secondary.

Offensively, KSU’s Winston Demel was tabbed at fullback.

The Wildcats’ five selections were the second-most as Oklahoma led the way with nine.

OU quarterback Baker Mayfield was chosen Offensive Player of the Year, with Texas’ Malik Jefferson, a linebacker, the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

Former Texas A & M quarterback Kenny Hill, who is now at TCU, was tabbed Newcomer of the Year. Hill was the first quarterback at A & M after Johnny Manziel.

No Kansas players received mention.
