Even with five preseason first-team selections — the second-most of all the teams—  the Kansas State Wildcats didn’t get much respect in the annual preseason Big 12 football poll.

What else is new?

Kansas State was picked eighth, according to the poll announced on Thursday. And it was a distant eighth at that.

Oklahoma received 24 of the 26 first-place votes in the media poll, with second-place TCU receiving the other two.

Oklahoma State, Baylor and Texas completed the upper division.

Texas Tech was sixth, followed by West Virginia, Kansas State, Iowa State and Kansas. All but one media member picked the Jayhawks last.
