GARDEN CITY — Three McPherson golfers will be competing in the Kansas State Amateur Tournament that begins on Tuesday at both Buffalo Dunes and The Golf Club at Southwind.

Golfers play two qualifying rounds, one at each course, with the field reduced to 64 for match play that begins on Thursday.

Representing McPherson will be current City champion Jacob Lackey, Kelly Sorenson and Collin Duckworth, who was a standout for Central Christian College this past spring.

Lackey goes off at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Buffalo Dunes. Sorenson tees it up at 11:50 at Southwind, with Duckworth the first local golfer off at 9:40 at Southwind.

Treg Fawl, who had won the City title five years in a row before being edged by Lackey by one stroke last month, chose not to compete this year. He has qualified for match play in the past.
