McPherson’s Senior American Legion baseball team has drawn Oskaloosa in the first round of the Class AAA State Tournament next week at Great Bend.

McPherson and Oskaloosa open the proceedings at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

A McPherson victory moves it into the 6 p.m. game on Thursday, July 28. A loss and it would play at 10 a.m. on the 28th. It’s a double-elimination tournament.

Also on McPherson’s side of the bracket are Chanute and Newton, who play at 3:30 on Wednesday.

In the bottom bracket, Salina takes on Emporia at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with Great Bend tangling with defending state champion Ottawa at 8:30.

Post 24 advanced by winning the Great Bend zone, defeating the host team and Garden City by a combined score of 20-3. McPherson was second in Class AAA last year after winning the Class A title in 2014.
