NORTH NEWTON — Bethel College has filled its head women’s basketball coaching position with a Bethany College alum.

Bethany graduate Adam Esses, who has been at Kaskaskia College in Illinois as head coach and athletic director the past two years, was announced today as Bethel’s new coach, replacing Mark Fox.

Fox left Bethel to become an assistant men’s basketball coach at Tabor.

Before Kaskaskia, Esses was assistant women's basketball coach at Upper Iowa University, Fayette, 2010-14.

Esses is a 2008 graduate of Bethany, with a B.A. in secondary math education. He earned his M.S.Ed. in mathematics/science education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where he was also a graduate assistant coach for women's basketball.

"I am so excited to join the Thresher athletic department," Esses said in a press release posted by the KCAC. "I would like to thank Dr. (Perry) White [Bethel president] and Mr. (Athletic Director Kent) Allshouse for the opportunity. I am looking forward to returning to the KCAC and building a successful program."

"Bringing in someone like Adam, who possesses such passion and energy, is tremendous for the women's program and the campus as well," Allshouse said. "Adam has that perfect blend of experience and youthfulness that will enable him to put together a quality product on the floor each night. I look forward to witnessing the great things he will accomplish here at Bethel."
