EMPORIA — Jacob Lackey’s magical run in the Kansas Junior Match Play Golf Tournament was halted Friday morning.
The McPherson High senior, the No. 10 seed, was nipped 1-up by Manhattan’s Cole Gritton, the No. 3 seed.
Lackey was attempting to be a rare double-digit seed to make the finals. He is playing Hutchinson’s Jack Lanham for third place this afternoon.
Lanham, who was a 12-seed, had lost to top-seed Grant Herrenbruck of Salina in the other semi, 2 & 1.
