Here’s an indication that the school sports season is just around the corner.
Parents of ALL McPherson High and McPherson Middle School athletes, from the fall season to the spring, are urged to attend a preseason meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, in the MHS Theater.
This meeting covers the details and information that all parents of athletes need to know before their child participates. MMS is included so there won’t be separate meetings.
The meeting will begin with a general session with MHS Activities Director Shane Backhus and new MMS Activities Director Ron Orsakthat all parents of any athlete, regardless of season, should attend.
Topics will include student eligibility guidelines, safety and concussion management, substance abuse policy, conflict of interest policy, Booster Club information and other KSHSAA and USD 418 guidelines.
The activities directors will also be available to answer any questions parents may have about participating in a school-sponsored activity.
There will be Bullpup door prizes for those in attendance and information on discounted family passes to MHS events.
Following the general session, the fall coaches (football, volleyball, cross country, girls tennis and boys soccer) of both MHS and MMS will have breakout sessions with parents regarding their upcoming sports seasons, which begin on Aug. 15.
