INDIANAPOLIS — McPherson Aqua Pup swimmers Will Powers and Dawson VanGoethem were among 1,800 competitors this past weekend in the Mega-Zone Tournament, the final event of the summer.
In the 13-14 division of the 50 free, Powers was 45th (27.04) and VanGoethem 101st (27.40) as the difference between them was less than a second, that’s how close the entries were. There were 128 entries just in that event.
They also competed in the 200 freestyle relay with two other swimmers from their region and placed 21st.
Powers also was part of a 400 freestyle relay team that was also 21st and his split time of 58.74 was a second faster than last weekend.
“A job well done by our boys, they represented McPherson and the Aqua Pups proudly at the highest level for USA age group swimming,” McPherson coach Kyle Banman said.
