The lights are now fixed on the Swan Court Fountain at McPherson’s Lakeside Park.

Last month, Oneok Partners in McPherson donated $2,000 toward the replacement of the park fountain lights that were damaged in May by vandals whose identity is still unknown.

McPherson’s Public Lands and Facilities Director Wayne Burns took the opportunity this week to publicly thank Oneok for their contribution.

“If you guys haven’t seen it on social media, the lights were repaired at Swan Court, so give a shout-out to [Oneok] and thank them again for their contribution of $2,000.”

After vandals destroyed the fountain light lenses last May, the city decided to raise funds within the community once it was determined that it would cost over $4,000 to get the fountain lights working again. Oneok’s donation went a long way toward achieving that goal.

The culprits who vandalized the fountain were never caught. If anyone has any information on this or any other acts of vandalism in our local parks, contact the McPherson Police Department at 620-245-1200 or 245-1266.

Anonymous callers can contact McPherson County Crime Stoppers at 620-241-1122.
