LITTLE RIVER — Experience has the Little River football team ahead of schedule so far during the preseason.
“We have so many starters returning that we have several players that seem to be ahead of our normal curve in terms of learning offense and defense,” said Little River coach Paul Dold, whose team is coming off a 5-4 season after a 7-4 record in 2014.
“We have 20 athletes out as of now, which is a few short of the number we were expecting,” Dold said. However, he added, there’s a lot of quality.
Because of limited numbers, the Redskins are keeping their fingers crossed in the health department.
“Our main concern numbers-wise is keeping enough healthy players to play a full JV schedule that is so useful in developing players,” Dold said.
Something that has caught Dold’s attention is how business-like the team has been.
“This year's group is pretty quiet and laid back for the most part, we will have to see if that changes on Friday nights,” Dold said.
