McPherson school board members Monday night approved the school budget for the 2016-2017 school year. The upcoming school year marks the second in the block grant funding system that was created last year by the Kansas Legislature. Overall, funding from McPherson’s local option budget for its schools will remain level in comparison to last year’s numbers. Property values in McPherson also rose about five percent, which for the fifth year in a row has allowed for a reduction in the mill levy tax.
A copy of the approved budget will eventually be available on the school’s website at www.mcpherson.com .

McPherson’s school budget was approved unanimously by the four out of six board members present at Monday night’s meeting. The school board will soon be accepting applications to fill the vacancy left by Rhonda Wince’s early departure in June.
