New College President to Address Bethany Students at Friday's Convocation, Public Invited to Attend

Bethany College students will officially be welcomed to campus at the school’s annual Opening Convocation on Friday, August 26 at 10 a.m. in Presser Hall Auditorium. President William Jones, Bethany’s newly appointed 14th college president, will be the speaker for the event.

Provost Bob Carlson will introduce and welcome faculty and Kylee Ayres, a senior from Salina and Swede Government Association (SGA) president, will recognize SGA officers and welcome the Class of 2020 and Transfer Students.

New full-time faculty members this year include Nelson Smith, assistant professor painting and drawing; Eleanor Heimbaugh, visiting professor of ceramics and sculpture; Arminta Fox, visiting professor of religion; Ashik Shafi, visiting professor of communications; and Laura Stenlund, assistant professor of athletic training.

The convocation is open to the public.

Bethany College, established by Swedish Lutheran immigrants in 1881, is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
