GREAT BEND — Central Christian College’s men’s soccer team got its feet wet on Wednesday by going up against Barton County Community College in an exhibition match.
The Tigers permitted three first-half goals, which was the only scoring in the game.
“There are a lot of positives to take out of tonight's match,” CCC coach Aaron Hoxie said. “One of them being the manner in which we competed. We had several opportunities to quit out there, but we were able to continue to play. We concentrated heavily on getting to our best and I think the players did so."
Barton County is expected to be strong this season.
“Barton is a quality side,” Hoxie said. “Their players are very technical and tactically savvy and it was a very good test to try some of our defensive tactics against them. They deserved the result. Best of luck to them going forward."
The Tigers are coming off an 8-11 campaign and have a lot of players back. They open their season on Saturday against Bethel College. Kickoff on the CCC pitch is set for 8 p.m.
