MARSHALL, Mo. — It took only one day for the McPherson College volleyball team to record the first victory of the Jessica Cleveland era in the Missouri Valley Invitational.

After dropping a 3-0 verdict on Friday to national power Oklahoma City University (19-25, 15-25, 18-25), the Bulldogs didn’t hang their heads as they showed some comeback grit for a straight-sets victory over Central Methodist (25-23, 25-22, 25-22).

Cleveland has taken over as head coach for the Bulldogs and this tournament is an acid test as the Bulldogs are playing a high level of competition.

Lexi Kite had 14 kills and four digs in the win over Central Methodist, while Jocelyn Cochran had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Jamie Siess had 21 assists, while Emily Warner came up with 25 digs.

In the loss to OCU, Leia Seiler had a team-high five kills. Cochran and Warner had nine digs apiece.

Mac completes its weekend trip by playing two more matches today, with the opponents being Avila and Missouri Valley.
