GARDEN CITY — McPherson High senior Jacob Lackey completed a tremendous summer of competition by competing this weekend in the High Plains Amateur Tournament at Southwind Golf Course, which drew players from all over the nation.

After struggling somewhat on Saturday with a 79 (though he shot 37 on his front nine), Lackey charged back with a 73 for a 152 total. It took a 149 to make the Top 10. A golfer from Ireland and two from Thailand were among the Top 10 finishers.

Sion Audrain of Garden City was the tourney champ with a 70-73-143.

Lackey had a summer full of highlights, including winning the McPherson City Tournament and making match play at the Kansas Men’s State Amateur.
