CCC spikers win season opener

It was a successful start to Sarah Rhodes’ volleyball coaching career here Tuesday as Central Christian College swept Manhattan Christian in straight sets at Alexander Arena.

The Tigers came away with 25-22, 25-14 and 25-13 victories.

“I am very proud of my girls," Rhodes said. "They fought hard and never gave up and I look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish this season.”

Hannah Crandall, an expected team leader, came up with 20 assists, 15 digs and also served up a couple of aces. Sarah Post and Kacie Platt both came up with 8 kills. Makalyn Tuttle led in blocks with 5, while Desiree Padilla and Rhylee Richardson contributed 11 digs apiece.

Central is home on Friday to take on Barclay College and Central Christian College of the Bile. Match time is 4 p.m.
