MOUNDRIDGE — The Hesston High volleyball team already has piled up eight victories in less than a week.
After a 6-0 performance in the Central Kansas League Preseason Tournament on Saturday to take first place, the Swathers tacked on two more wins on Tuesday in the Moundridge triangular.
The Swathers won both matches in straight sets, 25-16, 25-14 against Conway Springs and 25-18, 25-17 against Moundridge.
Against Conway Springs, Kailey Jo Ince led the Swathers with 11 kills, Alaina Dunlavy had 11 assists and six digs, and Rylie Schilling was tops in blocks with 3.
Against Moundridge, Ince had 11 kills, Dunlavy furnished 14 assists and Kennedy Teach had 10 digs.
“We played a little more consistent throughout the night than we did last weekend, but still had our moments where our serve receive and defense broke down,” Hesston coach Jason Peters said. “Our net play and blocking are coming along, but this is also a tough week where we don’t get much opportunity to work on things, with 10 matches in six days.”
Hesston goes to Hutchinson on Thursday to take on Trinity Catholic and Minneapolis.
Moundridge was 0-2 on the day as it lost to Conway Springs (12-25, 25-13, 19-25). The Wildcats are now 3-4 on the year and host Remington and Berean on Tuesday.
