Viking spikers go 0-3

ABILENE — Smoky Valley’s volleyball team, which had gone 4-2 in the Central Kansas League Preseason Tournament last weekend, went 0-3 against tough competition on Thursday in the Abilene Quad.

Against Concordia, the Vikings lost 24-26, 25-22, 16-25. Kate Deterding had 11 kills, Haley Peterson had 12 blocks and 3 aces, Rilee Carson had 25 digs and Delaney Johnson had 24 digs.

 The Vikes also lost a tough three-setter to Thomas More Prep (25-22, 17-25, 12-25). Stats of note were 8 kills by Deterding and 21 digs by Carson.

Smoky lost its final match in straight sets to Abilene (23-25, 25-27). Deterding had 9 kills, and Johnson had 21 assists for the stat highlights.
