LINDSBORG — The Smoky Valley boys cross country team sent a message — it’s going to be tough to beat.

The Vikings held their own invitational meet on Thursday. In the 11th-12th boys division, the Vikings had four of the top five finishers, led by champion Calvin Shannon. He ran a blazing 15:24.2 as he’s expected to contend for a state championship. Teammate Logan Windholz was right behind.

The Vikes’ Joshua Peterson won the 9th-10th boys division. The Vikings scored a minuscule 13 points to win the team title.
