SALINA — Central Christian College’s volleyball team stepped way up in competition on Saturday and suffered a pair of setbacks in the Kansas Wesleyan Classic.
The Tigers took on Wayland Baptist in their first match, losing 23-25, 21-25 and 11-25. Kasi Kraus had 8 kills, Desiree Padilla came up with 13 digs and Hannah Crandall notched 12 assists.
The Bulldogs then went up against KCAC member Southwestern, which won a 3-0 decision (25-23-25-21, 25-10).
Kraus had 8 more kills, one more than Kacie Platt. Crandall accumulated 21 assists and Padilla turned in 19 digs.
“We played really well for three sets today and struggled for three,” said CCC coach Sarah Rhodes, whose team had entered the day with a 3-0 record. “We have a lot of room for improvement, but I was impressed by the resilient attitudes my girls displayed today. There are big things to come from these girls.”
