McPherson College’s volleyball team won all of seven matches last season.
After two wins here Saturday, the Bulldogs already are at five under new coach Jessica Cleveland and the season is still in its infant stages.
The Bulldogs outlasted Stephens College in four sets (25-13, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19).
Kill leaders, with 10 each, were Lexi Kite, Jocelyn Cochran and Leia Seiler. The assists were divided between Morgan Little (23) and Kaitlyn Heinis (18). Cochran and Devrie Sombers had 3 aces apiece. Emily Warner as usual led in digs with 11.
The Bulldogs then defeated University of Science and Arts in four sets and the Drovers traditionally are a strong team. Mac won the first two sets 25-16, 25-12 before dropping the third 24-26. Undaunted, the Bulldogs bounced back to win the match in Set 4, 25-18.
Cochran led in kills with 16, Little had 21 assists and 4 aces, while Warner led in digs with 22.
The Bulldogs now 5-2, will try to move to 2-0 in KCAC play on Tuesday at Bethany.
