McPherson High’s girls tennis team, which has won its first two tournaments of the year, remains No. 2 in the Class 4A state rankings announced on Monday.

The Bullpups are right behind Wichita Collegiate. They will be severely tested on Saturday when they compete in the Salina Central Invitational.

Independence and Topeka Hayden swapped this week, with the Bulldogs No. 3 and the Wildcats No. 4. Miege breaks into the rankings for the first time at No. 5 as Andover Central dropped out of the top group. It is noted as a team to watch, along with Coffeyville and Winfield.

Hesston remains on top in Class 3-2-1A, followed by Conway Springs, Wichita Independent, Central Plains and Sterling. Others to watch are Kansas City Christian, Marysville and Victoria.
