WELLINGTON — It was a “TCB” day for the McPherson High volleyball team.

As in taking care of business.

The varsity improved to 8-2 on the season on Tuesday with wins over Wellington (25-20, 25-21) and Mulvane (25-13, 26-24).

The JVs needed three sets to dispatch with Wellington (20-25, 25-12, 25-18) and then defeated Mulvane in straight sets (25-16, 25-12).

MHS coach Christy Doile wasn’t sure what to expect from Wellington.

“They went to state last season. They have a new coach this season and did return a few players from that team,” she said. “They had a middle that we had to adjust our defense to stop her. On our side, our hitters-offense were able to execute.”

The Bullpups received more of a test from Mulvane.

“They pushed us in Set 2, we found ourselves not playing with energy, enthusiasm, going through the motions and we learned our level of play does drop when you do that,” Doile said.   “Mulvane took advantage and took the lead 24-21. After our timeout we came back to win in straight points 26-24. Rachel Dossett was serving for us for points 22-26.”

Doile said Sydney Mossman had the best night of her career as she had no hitting errors and 17 kills. Elle Barrett also was lauded for her hitting.

MHS goes to Winfield on Tuesday, with Andale rounding out the triangular.
