OKLAHOMA CITY — Central Christian College’s youthful golf teams faced gusty conditions as they opened the fall season this week in the two-day Lake Hefner Collegiate Classic.

Nine of the 13 Tigers were competing in their first-ever college tournament.

Collin Duckworth, coming off an outstanding freshman season, led the CCC men with rounds of 77-76. His 153 total was good for 18th place.

Other Tiger scores were Colton Person (80-79-159), JP Ray (82-79-161), Patrick Mercer (82-80-162), Lowell Stephens (84-79-163), John Browning (81-82-163), Trehern McGill (88-83-171), Chris Tucker (86-86-172), Matt Rettinger (84-90-174) and Jonathan Kramer (91-84).

Central as a team was ninth.

The women did not have a full team as they were missing a player. Alexis Briner led the Tigers with a pair of 86s for a 172 total, which gave her 29th. Other CCC players were Kari Kirl (95-89-184) and Haley Smith (93-94-187).

Central’s next action is Sept. 19-20 in Bartlesville, Okla.
