McPherson’s eighth-grade football team improved to 2-0 on Thursday with a thorough 30-0 blanking of Newton at Grant Complex.

“Our defense came up huge forcing four turnovers,” MMS coach Brandon Labertew said. “Two INTs by Aaron Powell and fumble recoveries by EJ Hein and Brycen Labertew. The offensive line churned out 212 yards of rushing. The O-line includes Jonah Scott, Blade Anderson, Aaron Handlin, Drew Hanken, Wyatt Eisenbarth, Dakota Estes, Dylan Rinker and Adam Elliott.”

The Bullpups dominated the game from start to finish.

“I thought we really did a good job controlling the ball, however we are going to have to get much better over the next two weeks as we play probably are two toughest games, Derby and Derby North.”

Derby is first up and the game is here Thursday.

The B-team won the extra-quarter game as Lane Lippelmann scored on a 40-yard dash for the 6-0 win.
