STERLING — McPherson High graduate Lauren Wankum has continued her cross country success at McPherson College.
Wankum grabbed the gold at the Sterling College Warrior Fest on Saturday and the Bulldog men also had a good day with a pair of Top 5 finishers.
The rapidly improving Wankum ran 19:40.8 to win by 4 seconds. Mac’s Laura Gibson finished eighth in 20:19.4 as two Bulldogs cracked the Top 10.

Sterling took the team title with 37 points after placing five runners in the Top 12. Hutchinson Community College was second with 55 points, while McPherson College (64) edged Bethany (68) for third place. Central Christian, Bethel and Barclay College did not have full teams.
The Mac men placed five runners in the Top 15, but were edged for the team title, 27-38, by Hutchinson Community College. HCC placed five runners in the Top 11.
The Bulldogs were led by Jonathan Dominguez, who was fourth (27:05.8) and Michael Janzer was fifth (27:14.2).
