DERBY — McPherson’s eighth-grade volleyball A-team swept a road triangular on Monday.
The Bullpups needed three sets to get past Salina South (16-25, 25-15, 15-11), but made quick work of Derby (25-4, 25-12) to move to 4-2 on the season.
“We had a slow start and let South take us to three sets, but we got things going in the right direction and finished the night with two wins,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “We are continuing to work on our serve receive and reducing the number of missed serves. Taylor Casebeer and Katie Berg both had some great serving stretches, especially against Derby.”
The B-team recorded its first win of the year as it defeated Derby (25-15, 25-16) after having lost to Salina South (8-25, 16-25).
“It took us a while tonight to get our serving and passing under control,” said MMS coach Aimee McDaniel, as the team is now 1-5. “However, I was proud of the girls for fighting back and staying positive. Against Derby, we served and passed the ball well to get the win.”
