McPherson to host Highland Games Championships

The 2016 All-American Highland Games Series held five games across the United States, including Costa Rica, Calif.; Las Vegas, Wichita, Spokane, Wash., and Kansas City, Mo.

Each venue in the series hosted a combination of Highland Games competition and a singular IHGF championship event.

The top two athletes from each of the games in the series will move forward to the All-American Championships, which will be held at the McPherson Highland Games scheduled for Sept. 24-26. The winner will go on the represent the country at the 2017 IHGF World Amateur Highland Games Championships in Norway.

Dave Glasgow, the maestro of the McPherson Highland Games, is an invaluable supporter of the IHGF and his amazing team has shown so much enthusiasm in being part of these championship events.

“In all my 30 years of being involved with the sport, I’ve never worked with a better group of people who are associated with such high quality-run Games, which makes McPherson the prime location for the final and the official IHGH All-American Highland Games Championships, which I foresee growing bigger in the next few years with such continued teamwork.”

The games are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m on Sept. 24-26 at the McPherson Festival of Cultures, Lakeside Park, 115 E. Lakeside Drive.
