Two volleyball teams entered the McPherson College Sport Center undefeated in KCAC play on Wednesday, but only one could leave that way.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the Bulldogs. But just barely.
Oklahoma Wesleyan ended the Bulldogs’ six-match winning streak in a duel that went the five-set limit (31-29, 25-19, 18-25, 23-25, 15-11). It was Mac’s first KCAC loss in three matches and the Eagles are now 3-0 in conference play.
The Bulldogs showed a lot of grit by coming back from a 2-0 set deficit before the Eagles finally pulled away in the deciding set.
Jessica Sanders had another nice all-around night for the Bulldogs with 15 kills, five blocks and four digs. Jocelyn Cochran and Lexi Kite had 9 kills apiece and Cochran also came up with 13 digs. Also for the Bulldogs, Devrie Sombers had eight blocks and five digs.
In assists, Kaitlyn Heinis had 25 and Morgan Little added 19, while Emily Warner was her usual hard-working self with 25 digs.
Mac, 8-3 overall, goes on the road Saturday to take on Southwestern, with match time set for 3 p.m. in Winfield.
