STERLING — Longtime Sterling College women’s basketball coach Lonnie Kruse will be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.
Kruse was 706-244 in his 33 years at Sterling before retiring. He will be inducted during the NAIA women’s national tournament in March in Sioux City Iowa.
The Warriors won 12 KCAC regular-season championships and made the NAIA National Tournament 16 times, including 10 second-round, two quarterfinal and one semifinal appearances.
His other honors include being inducted into the Sterling College Hall of Fame and Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. He is also the namesake for the Sterling College basketball court and the KCAC Coach of the Year award.
Kruse is now retired and living in Sterling.
