HUTCHINSON — McPherson’s seventh-grade volleyball B-team placed third on Saturday in the Hutchinson Invitational.

The Bullpups went 3-2 on the day. They were 2-1 in pool play with wins over Newton (25-12, 25-9) and Prairie Hills (23-23, 25-22, 15-7), while losing to Maize South (10-25, 9-25).

In bracket play, MMS lost to Hutchinson (23-25, 11-25), but bounced back to defeat Valley Center (25-21, 25-18).

“Today was a great day for our team,” MMS coach Abby Bradstreet said. “I couldn't be more proud of their third-place finish. We had some dropped balls and missed serves, but our communication was good and our energy level was high the entire day. Libero Jersey Lopez had some amazing digs and Kendall Boughfman had a great day of serving. I am so pleased with how the girls played today.”

MMS is now 9-3 on the year.
