TOPEKA — McPherson College tennis players Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez and Hector Carrillo have earned themselves a trip to Arizona.

The Bulldogs’ doubles team won the championship of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Central-West-Southwest Regional on Monday.

They defeated a team from Missouri Valley in a thrilling three-setter that went to a tiebreaker in the third set (8-6).

Rodriguez won his third title since arriving at Mac. He and Carrillo will play Oct. 13-16 in Surprise, Ariz.,  in the 2016 Oracle Cup.

Mac’s Brittany Zipf came within a victory of advancing as she lost in the singles finals to Tabor’s Jessica Emoto, the defending regional champion. Zipf was a surprise finalist as she had entered the tourney as the No. 7 seed.
