Smoky spikers split on Tuesday

KINGMAN — Central Kansas League volleyball powerhouses Smoky Valley and Kingman threw down in a three-set donnybrook on Tuesday with the triangular hosts taking the match in three sets.

The Vikings won the first set 25-21, but Kingman roared back for 25-21, 25-20 victories.

For Smoky Valley, Kate Deterding and Halle McClure led in kills with 12 apiece, Delaney Johnson hustled to 37 assists and Rilee Carson led in digs with 13, while McClure added 11.

The Vikings were pushed to three sets by Pratt, but they prevailed 25-8, 25-27, 25-21. Deterding led in kills with 13, Johnson furnished 27 assists and Carson supplied 28 digs.
