OTTAWA — Bethany College’s football team simply can’t finish what it starts.

The Swedes once again were in solid position at halftime of their KCAC game with Ottawa University on Saturday, dominating the action for a 22-12 lead.

But it was all OU in the second half as it outscored the Swedes 34-3 for a 46-25 victory, keeping the Swedes winless on the year.

It was OU’s first win after three straight losses, all to ranked teams.

Isaiah Salazar threw for 202 yards and a touchdown, but was lost in the third quarter and it all went south from there for the Swedes.

The Swedes also lost running back Louie Gonzales to an injury in the third quarter as two of their main playmakers spent the rest of the game as spectators. Gonzales had been gashing the OU defense with 66 yards on just 12 carries.

James Augusta drilled four field goals for the Swedes. Dalton Goodwin caught a TD pass from Salazar for the lone offensive touchdown as Damian Bell-White had a pick-six for the other, sprinting 35 yards to paydirt.

Bethany did have 354 yards of total offense, 289 of that through the air. OU had 256 yards rushing and 200 passing in a nice balanced attack.

The 0-4 Swedes host Saint Mary on Saturday.
