CANTON — A couple of tough three-set losses denied Canton-Galva's volleyball team a spot in the winner's bracket semifinals on Saturday in the Eagles' own tournament.

C-G lost to both tourney finalist Halstead and Solomon in three sets in pool play after winning the first set against both teams. The Eagles did come back to defeat Little River for fifth place.

Powerhouse Goessel had little trouble in winning the title as it did not lose a set all day. It routed Halstead 25-11, 25-12 in the championship match.

“Our pool was so evenly matched and every game was a fight," C-G coach Kaitlyn Bressie said. "We just couldn't pull it together at the end. Obviously I would have been happy finishing a little better, but the tournament was fun. Other than Goessel, a lot of evenly matched teams there.”
