McPherson’s BPU this week is celebrating Power Week, an event that takes place across the country the first full week in October every year.
“Public Power Week is a national event where 2,000 public power institutions come together and just tap the benefits of having a public power utility,” said Kasi Morales, Director of Marketing and Key Accounts Manager for Industrial Economic Development for McPherson’s Board of Public Utilities.
“So this is something that will be exciting for our existing businesses and then also anybody that’s interested in possibly relocating their business to learn the benefits of their utility,” Morales continued, explaining how this event will help BPU bring attention to the McPherson Community.
To celebrate power week, McPherson’s BPU is opening their doors to the public and hosting an open house on October 6 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. They’ll be offering tours of the power plant and the museum as well as water resource and electrical safety demonstrations.
“And also another big draw will be a drawing for a $150 credit on your residential bill,” added Morales.
A complimentary lunch with brats and hotdogs will also be served between 11:00 and 1:00.
“So we encourage you to come out and enjoy lunch with us and these tours.
“For the power plant tours, we are requesting that you do RSVP to me, to give me a call, because we are arranging transportation,” she added. “We’ve arranged with the CVB to have the trolley come and transport people from the administrative office to the power plant.”
