MHS kickers swamp El Dorado

EL DORADO — The inexperience of El Dorado’s boys soccer team was painfully evident on Tuesday as the Wildcats have a relatively green program.

McPherson High’s starters played only sparingly as the Bullpups exploded early and often in a 16-0 game called at the half.

The victory improved the Bullpups to 8-3.

“Tonight was a fun game where we were able to score a lot of goals and see a lot of players get their first goals of the season,” MHS coach Chris Adrian said. “We came out on fire and shellshocked El Dorado. After 10 minutes, the score was 8-0 and several of the starters were done for the night with a big game against Salina South coming up on Thursday. It was fun to see players like Devin Cape and Britton Haigh get their first goals of the season. They are both great, unselfish players and are always looking to pass first. As crazy as it sounds, the scoreline really could have been a lot worse as the majority of the starters only played 15 minutes or so.”

Andric McGill scored a whopping five goals in his brief appearance to lead the way. Drew Schrader passed for three assists.

The MHS JVs also had a breeze, 11-0.

The Bullpups will have a polar opposite game on Thursday when defending Class 5A state champion Salina South comes to McPherson Stadium.
